After thirteen years as Prime Minister, Dr. Keith Mitchell has officially assumed a new role, that of opposition leader.

St. George’s, Grenada (July 14, 2008) All ministers of government in the new Grenada administration taking the oath of office yesterday will take up their respective ministries today. Headed by Prime Minister Tillman Thomas, the new government will settle down to the task of rebuilding Grenada.

The opposition New National Party is already calling foul on the new government, accusing the National Democratic Congress of intimidation, instilling fear and victimization.

Foreign judges will not be used to adjudicate in calypso and soca competitions during Grenada’s August festivals.

An aid to former Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell was detained by the Grenada police on Thursday morning.  The woman whose job was to coordinate the outreach community program of the New National Party was caught taking away documents from her office.

  Newly elected Prime Minister Tillman Thomas on Thursday moved into the official office of the Prime Minister at the Botanical Gardens Ministerial Complex, vowing to respect competence over political patronage.

 As the countdown draws closer to general elections, the National Democratic Congress is reporting that a new poll has put it ahead of the New National Party. In addition, a former NNP cabinet minister has come out in open support of the NDC.

St. George’s, Grenada (July 5, 2008) Senator Einstein Louison, in his capacity as Minister of National Security, has banned all political parties in the country from holding islandwide motorcades tomorrow, Sunday, in the run-up to Tuesday’s general election.

Dr. Francis Alexis says the Commissioner of Police should reconsider his decision refusing NDC permission to use public address systems during their election motorcade this Sunday.
