MARCH 31ST 2008, St. George’s – An updated and revised voters list should be released any time from now. That’s according to a representative from the Parliamentary Elections Office. All voters who were registered up to December 2007 are being urged to check the list for their names.
Meanwhile, Head of the Organization of American States office in Grenada Mr. Francis McBarnette says the first batch of OAS representatives that were promised for the Parliamentary Elections Office will be taking up duty during the first week in April.
Mr. McBarnette said the team will seek to strengthen the capacity of the elections office and for administrative support.
Mr. mc Barnette says and I quote….“this is the team that will be strengthening the capacity at the elections office making sure that what has to be done, that things are done properly, the role of that team is for administrative support.
The arrival of the team follows a promise by Secretary General of the OAS José Miguel Insulza to Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell in February; that he will be sending two teams to island to strengthening the electoral process.
The first team is to assist at the Parliamentary Elections Office and the second will arrive when the date of general elections is announced.
