Prime Minister DR. Keith Mitchell has expressed serious concern over the recent tragic incidents which have led to four persons losing their lives.

Dr. Mitchell is worried about the impact these incidents are having on the community. “I have been thinking about the mothers and fathers, wives and children who have been affected by these incidents. I have also been thinking about the impact these murders have been having on the wider community. Grenada is normally a peaceful place. We have grown accustomed to a very high level of peace and safety especially within the last decade.” The Grenadian leader said.

Dr. Mitchell has asked the Minister of Ecclesiastical Affairs Senator Ann David Antoine to convene a special meeting of all churches and faith based organisations to discuss this problem and to look for solutions.  Tourism Minister Claris Modeste Curwen has called for a collective approach to address the crime situation in Grenada.

She says with four murders in two months, there is cause for concern especially in the face of the alarming crime statistics in the region.

Meanwhile the opposition National Democratic Congress says it is also alarmed at the level of violence in the society.

Glynis Roberts, the NDC MP for St. George South, has proposed a meeting of various stakeholders, including government, civic groups and non-governmental organizations, to discuss the situation and to find solutions.
