According to the Prime Minister, who on Friday attended the funeral service of this famous St. Andrew’s doctor and politician, it was a desire to make a contribution to the betterment of people that brought him into the political arena.
Dr Gibbs served as Minister of Health under a National Democratic Congress government between 1990 and 1995. He served the main physician at the Princess Alice Hospital for many years.
“We have lost a physician whose motivation was the health of his patients. He was well respected and well loved by those who knew him. He will be greatly missed,” the Prime Minister said.
Dr. Lawrence Gibbs received the Medal of Honour from the Government of Grenada for his services to the Community, as part of Independence awards in 2009.
Paul if you took a moment to scroll down to the news for 8/20/09 you will find the message from Dr. Keith Mitchell.
Interesting that the Condolence message sent out by the NNP for Dr. Gibbs on Wednesday is not on this website.
