Obama select Biden for VP

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has announced that Joe Biden will be his running mate in November’s election. The announcement came minutes after most Networks started reporting that Joe Biden was the choice for Vice President.

Mr Obama’s choice, confirmed on his website and with a text message to supporters, comes ahead of next week’s Democratic Party convention.

Mr Biden, a 65-year-old veteran lawmaker, is highly respected on foreign policy issues. The New York Senator Hillary Clinton was never considered for the job.  It is not yet known what effect the Hillary factory will play; however, over 20% of her supporters said their will vote for John Mc Cain.

Senator Joe Biden contested the Democratic primary but fail to impress the voters before dropping out of the race.

Republican contender John McCain could announce his choice next week.  Speculation is mounting that Senator McCain may name his running mate on 29 August, his 72nd birthday and a day after the Democrats wrap up their convention. .
