WIPA CONGRATULATES CHANDERPAUL

Wavell Hinds, the President of the West Indies Players Association (WIPA), has hailed Shivnarine Chanderpaul’s reaching the milestone of 10,000 runs in Test cricket as “a well deserved reward for one of the hardest workers in the history of the game.” Speaking from Jamaica, Hinds expressed great delight at Chanderpaul’s achievement.

“I am fortunate to have had Shiv as a teammate, and even more so to count him as a friend. He is an unrelenting professional who never stops working and who backs himself at all times. You would be hard pressed to find a player more loyal to the cause and to his craft in all of world cricket,” said Hinds.

Hinds continued, “WIPA tips its hat to Shiv and joins with the all other Caribbean nationals, both here and in the diaspora, in wishing him continued success for as long as he chooses to play. We salute you Shiv – and say a big thank you for representing West Indies cricket as well as you have.”

Chanderpaul becomes just the 10th player in the history of Test cricket, and the 2nd West Indian, after Brian Lara to join the 10,000 run club.
