Winning Start for Windward Cricketers

North Sound, Antigua – Windward Islands comfortably disposed of Combined Campuses and Colleges by 28 runs after Star-of-the-Match Andre Fletcher’s powerful 59 ball 88 piloted the islanders to 189 for 3 from 20 overs.

CCC initially made a run at the total but lost a steady stream of wickets to end on 161 for 8 from their allotment of overs.

Fletcher fell 12 runs short of a triple figure score as he hammered five fours and four sixes, putting on 78 for the second wicket with Keddy Lesporis (32) and an opening stand of 68 with Johnson Charles who made 37 from 29 balls.

Captain Darren Sammy blasted a quickfire 18 from 5 balls as Ryan Austin grabbed 2 for 34.

Mervin Matthew, the Dominican pacer and Nelon Pascal the Grenadian quic each picked up 2 wickets as they dented the college boys who were led by their captain, Romel Currency’s top score of 39. Miles Bascombe aided with 26 while Floyd Reifer spanked 24 from 16 balls before Pascal rocked his stumps.
