Westerhall Estate Workers get increase in wages

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, May 15, 2014 – GIS: Some fourteen workers at Westerhall Estate are to benefit from a three percent increase in wages effective April 1, 2014.

This is the result of an industrial agreement, which was signed on Tuesday May 13, 2014, between the Grenada Seamen and Waterfront Workers Union and Westerhall Estate Ltd. Distillery.

The signing took place at the Ministry of Labour and will cover a three-year period.

The parties agreed that an incentive bonus of a week’s pay shall be paid to each worker on or about the 15th of December of each year.

Drivers/Salesmen will also receive a commission of one percent on cash sales made in excess of forty thousand dollars per month.

Signing on behalf of the Union was Mr. Lyle Samuel, Mr. Cyril St Louis and Ms. Megan Samuel whilst Mr. Ian Harford and Mr. Graham Williams inked the agreement on behalf of the company.

Acting Senior Labour Officer, Mr. Reginald Lord, witnessed the signing on behalf of the Ministry.
