Two Football Teams receive Uniforms from NNP Constituency Caretaker for St. Geo South Mrs. Alexandra Otway-Noel

August 30th, 2012: NNP Constituency Care taker for Saint George South Mrs. Alexandra Otway-Noel distributed Football uniforms to two (2) teams in the constituency. Present for the handing over of the uniforms was Hon Senator Gregory Bowen, members of the NNP South St.George management team, members of the teams and the organisers.

The teams receiving the uniforms were Young Guns of the Limes and the  Grand Anse Strikers of Grand Anse. These teams will all be part of a competition organised by Mr. Troy Charles and South Village Group, Mr. Charles in expressing his gratitude towards Mrs. Otway- Noel’s donation and support said “the aim of organising the competition is to assist in the development of young people in the area”   Mrs. Otway-Noel in speaking to the players encouraged them to continue to be active, show good sportsmanship and healthy lifestyles. She alluded to the fact that there are many friends of Grenada who want to contribute to our betterment and thanked Ms Gill the owner of the sporting goods manufacturing company that provided the uniforms. Mrs Otway-Noel went on to encourage teamwork and healthy play as it leads to a healthy minds.

In addressing the teams, Hon. Bowen also stressed on the importance of leading healthy lives and the importance that sport plays in building national pride. He spoke of the critical fact that being a team player is crucial for the team to be successful. Finally, he made reference to our Olympic Gold Medalist, Kirani James and the discipline he exemplified and urged the youthful players to follow his example.

The cost of the uniforms is in excess of EC$4, 000.00. This donation follows donations to other sporting teams in the constituency in recent months. There is one more team slated to receive uniforms on Sunday in Woburn.
