Two-day discussion on Copyright & Intellectual Property

St. George’s, November 24, 2010 – The Corporate Affairs & Intellectual Property Office (CAIPO) of Grenada will be launching the Draft Copyright Bill at National Stadium on Thursday, November 25.

The launch will form part of a two-day seminar and consultation will be facilitated by Copyright Programme Officer, Sonia Cruickshank, of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.

Topics to be discussed during the November 25 and 26 CAIPO/WIPO event include “Collective Management,’’ “Copyright and Related Rights,’’ and “The Role of Copyright in Development.

Since 1998, Grenada has been a member of WIPO, a specialized agency of the United Nations. It is dedicated to developing a balanced, accessible international system that rewards creativity, stimulates innovation and contributes to economic development, while safeguarding the public’s interest.

The World Intellectual Property Organization was established by the WIPO Convention in 1967, with a mandate from member-states to promote the protection of Intellectual Property throughout the world. 

The seminar runs from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both Thursday and Friday.
