BLACK RIVER, Jamaica – Trinidad & Tobago were crowned champions of the Regional Under-15 Tournament on Friday here.
T&T completed a seven-wicket victory over hosts Jamaica in the final round to clinch the title for the seventh time in the 18-year history of the tournament.
It was the fourth victory for the two-island republic in this year’s tournament, as they finished at the top of the standings with 56.9 points.
T&T edged out Windward Islands for the title by just 2.7 points, both sides finishing with the same win-loss record.
Windwards finished the tournament with a convincing innings and 17 runs win over fellow sub-regional side Leeward Islands.
Windwards also had the privilege of producing the top batsman in the tournament. Emmanuel Stewart, their captain and wicketkeeper, gathered 269 runs in the five matches at an average of 38.43.
Ronaldo Mohammed of third-placed Guyana was the most successful bowler with 33 wickets at 8.03 runs apiece and also copped the Most Valuable Player award.
