St. George South East Constituency New National Party executive congratulates Senator Gregory Bowen

St. George’s, Grenada August 4th, 2010: The St. George South East Constituency New National Party executive congratulates Senator Gregory Bowen on his emphatic victory as was delivered by the Court of Appeals in the United States of America on 21st July, 2010 against political lies and propaganda by Grynberg and local co-conspirators. The executive at its meeting on Tuesday 27th July, 2010 expressed grave concern about the low level of coverage now given to the outcome by the same media that afforded massive, lengthy and continuous publicity to the false allegation about requesting a bribe when the propaganda was initiated in November of 2006.

Speaking in an elated manner but notably displeased about the lack of publicity, the Chairman of the Constituency Executive Bassanio Nicholas said, “All media houses were vocal-facilitating such known opponents of the NNP as Lloyd Noel and Reynold Benjamin who appeared on TV with a mountain load of paper that were supplied to them claiming these contained facts proving Minister Bowen as he was then, was guilty. Interestingly they could not find one document in the pile.” He went on, “Because of media coverage like these, during the 2008 campaign voters in St. George South East were saying that as much as they like Brother B [Gregory Bowen] they could not support corruption and many refused to vote while many others voted against us because of the lies and Gregory Bowen and the New National Party paid a heavy price at the polls.”

The press now has a duty and obligation to provide even more coverage and to expose the damage that was done and those responsible. Also persons as Lloyd Noel, Reynold Benjamin, Anslem Clouden and others within the NDC, should apologize publicly.

The Executive and members call on the Tillman Thomas Government to pay and reimburse all legal and other costs associated with the lawsuit, the ruling in which categorically affirmed that the lawsuit was a matter against the state. Senator Bowen did not only save our country from a default judgment and US$500m, but also prevented Grynberg from further suing the government on an opening provided by the June 1st, 2010 ruling of the Supreme Court of the United States of America thereby saving taxpayers millions of dollars in legal fees.

The NNP executive and members of St. George South East recognize and hold in high esteem the family of Senator Bowen for the excellent and stalwart support given to him throughout the malicious ordeal. “We are particularly proud that every member of our constituency branch behaved in a similar manner, never doubting the integrity of the man, unlike some others,” says one executive member Gabriel Strachan.
