SPEND A SIZZLING DAY IN THE CARIBBEAN!

March 24, 2008On Sunday, June 8, 2008 at the Raymond Bourque Arena, 2345 Thimens in Ville St. Laurent, from 1:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., experience the sights, smells, tastes and sounds of the Caribbean without leaving Montreal. THE HEAT IS ON! Celebrity chefs and Bartenders from some of the finest hotels and Restaurants in Barbados, Dominican Republic, St. Lucia and St. Thomas Virgin Islands will join 30 local Caribbean Chefs in Montreal to stage the largest Caribbean Food Festival Montreal has ever seen.    The 9th annual “A TASTE OF THE CARIBBEAN” showcases Montreal’s incredible diversity and provides an opportunity for people of all ages, different backgrounds and walks of life to share and celebrate the spirit and captivating culture of the Caribbean community.  It is also a chance to enjoy exciting entertainment, dance demonstrations, arts and crafts exhibits and delectable tropical cuisine all in one place.   A Taste of the Caribbean will welcome national culinary teams from The Dominican Republic, St. Thomas Virgin Islands, Barbados, and St. Lucia to thrill members of the general public.  Over 100 Caribbean dishes from 20 Caribbean Islands will be the order of the day.  Rotis, ox-tail, curry coconut shrimp, samana style fish, curry goat and jerk chicken are just a few samples to make you whet your appetite.  The Raymond Bourque Arena will be transformed into a Caribbean Paradise catering to live Caribbean orchestras, Steelband and Dance Caribe Performing Company of Toronto.   Proceeds from A Taste of the Caribbean will be donated to TRIUMPH THROUGH ADVERSITY, a culinary arts program for disenfranchised youth.  Tickets are now on sale.  General Admission: 35$ Children: 10$    VIP Patron: 100$ VIP Patron ticket holders will receive the “White Glove” treatment at the event. You will be invited to enjoy a pre-cocktail rum tasting reception which begins at 12:00 noon until 1:30 p.m. In addition VIP guests, you will receive reserve seating, an open bar of 8 hours with private sampling of 100 Island dishes prior to the general admission at 1:30.
