St. George’s, GRENADA. The “Class of 1995” of St. Joseph Convent of St. George would be staging their next event – a unique “Tie Fete” — on Sunday, August 2nd at the Aquarium Restaurant in Point Saline, as part of their ongoing initiative to raise funds for their alma mater.
Two Saturdays ago, the ‘old girls’ staged their first fundraiser, next to the Esplanade Mall in the heart of the capital. At that event, they were able to successfully launch their initiative to raise funds for the funding of their 2010 reunion and the school’s renovation efforts.
The event featured the sale of an array of delicious cakes, as well as tasty bakes and salt-fish.
“We also used the event as an opportunity to encourage other past pupils to assist our alma mater through similar projects,” an alumnus of the ‘Class of 1995’ noted.
According to one of the organizers, alumnus Marcian Lewis, “The first fundraiser successfully yielded $600.00 in sales, and we expect the August 2nd event to bring in much more in terms of proceeds.”
Attendees of the upcoming event are encouraged to wear the tie of their respective alma mater..
