Seeking a Grenadian importer of Portuguese wines

By Lincoln Depradine

St. George’s, May 16, 2010 – Judith Cunha, a British-born businesswoman of Grenadian parents, has said that chances are good for finding a local importer for the wine distribution business she runs with her husband from London, England.

Cunha and her Portuguese-born husband, Antonio, are the proprietors of Ince Wines, which they started three years ago. The company’s primary focus is promoting and distributing a niche portfolio of high-quality Portuguese wines to wine lovers, fine restaurants, hotels and corporate events.

“Wine education and wine tours are also part of our service,’’ Judith Cunha said in an interview in St. George’s. “Apart from high-quality wines, we also offer other Portuguese products such as world-famous olive oils, parma ham, cheese and vintage ports.’’

Cunha and her husband recently visited Grenada and hosted a wine-tasting event at Spice Island Beach Resort. The aim, they said, was to share information and educate people about Portuguese wines.

It was also to seek a prospective Grenadian importer of Portuguese wines, Judith Cunha added. “I am satisfied with the response to the event. The right people turned up and we had some good prospects,’’ she said.

Among those who patronised the event was Hon. Joseph Gilbert, Member of Parliament for St. Patrick West and Deputy Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress.

Mr. Gilbert, a cousin to Judith Cunha, is also Grenada’s Minister of Communications, Works and Public Utilities.
