St. Augustine’s Medical Services Inc. (SAMS), Grenada’s leading provider of quality, professional and affordable health care is celebrating 17 years of service since it first opened its doors in July 1998.
The private medical hospital, located in St. Paul’s, St. George, is owned and operated by Dr. Lutz and Allyson Amechi, who set up the business when they realised the need for quality private healthcare on our Spice Isle.
The twelve bed, first class Inpatient facility, offers comprehensive care in multiple areas of clinical services inclusive of General Surgery, Maternity and Medical Admissions. The hospital’s Outpatient Clinics with Dr. Amechi as its resident General Practitioner, also has several multidisciplinary specialists, including General Surgeons, Gynaecologists, Orthopaedists, among others. The Outpatient department includes a laboratory, digital x-ray, ultrasound, CT Scanner and an onsite pharmacy, making SAMS the only “one stop clinic” of its kind on the island. SAMS is also recognised amongst local and international insurance companies a provider of quality health care.
Dr. Amechi commented on this significant milestone for the Company and the need for a good health care system in Grenada. “Good health care is extremely important not just for individual well-being, but also for the productivity of the nation. Having proper health care systems is also crucial for the tourism industry where visitors are accustomed to and expect, high levels of quality care and service in the event they require medical attention” he said.
“Over the past 17 years, we have achieved significant growth in our services and are pleased with the positive contribution and impact we have been able to make in the community” he further noted.
In addition to its first rate services, St. Augustine’s Medical Services also plays an active role, enhancing the community through its financial support for various care institutions, schools, sporting events, educational and healthcare programmes.
Throughout the month of August, SAMS will also be offering a free 1 year promotional discount card for patients 70 years and over. With this card, they will be receive 10% discount on all basic hospital services and prescription medicines purchased at SAMS’ onsite pharmacy.
Mrs. Allyson Amechi, Administrative Director at SAMS, acknowledged the need for being responsible corporate citizens and therefore the Company’s free offer in celebration of their 17th year in Grenada. “We believe it is very important to give back to and take care of the communities within which we operate, as they are the foundations upon which we can flourish as a nation. We chose to offer this discount card specifically to the elderly as they have many needs and are not always in a position to obtain adequate insurance coverage, etc.” she said
St. Augustine’s Medical Services looks forward to many more successful years ahead and further expanding its service offerings, raising the bar for the provision of world class health care in Grenada and beyond.
