COOLIDGE, Antigua (CMC) – West Indies medium pacer Darren Sammy and Guyanese batsman Travis Dowlin have been included in the Stanford Superstars line-up for next month’s lucrative Stanford Super Series.

The duo will replace injured all-rounder Dwayne Bravo and exciting West Indies opener Xavier Marshall who has been excluded. No reason has been given for the 22-year-old’s omission.

Sammy has played five Tests and 17 One-Day Internationals for the West Indies while the 31-year-old Dowlin has not played any international cricket but has appeared in 62 first-class matches along with 30 Regional one-day matches.

The right-handed top order batsman was the Player of the Stanford Twenty20 tournament in 2006 when Guyana won the inaugural tournament.

Sixteen members of the 17-member Stanford Superstars squad will assemble here tomorrow for a six-week training camp, as they begin preparation for the tournament that bowls off October 25.

Head coach Eldine Baptiste will supervise the camp with support from assistant coach Roger Harper, fielding coach Julien Fountain, manager Lance Gibbs and assistant manager Cardigan Connor.

West Indies left-hander Shivnarine Chanderpaul, currently on contract with English County Durham, will join the camp at a later date.

The Stanford Super Series will bowl off with the Stanford Superstars facing Trinidad & Tobago.

The tournament, which also includes English County club Middlesex, will culminate on November 1 with the historic US$20 million ‘Twenty20 for 20’ match at the Stanford Cricket Ground..
