
ST. GEORGE’S –May 22, 2018 – The Grenada Cricket Association has named 14 players to participate in the Windward Island 50 over tournament in St. Lucia from May 26 – 30. The team will be lead by 20 year old Roland Cato.
Cato has represented the Windward Islands Volcanoes in the last Cricket West Indies Professional 4 day and 50 over tournament. He helped the Volcanoes to win the 2017-18 50 over championship. The 20 year old Cato will be the youngest player to captain a Grenada senior team. The previous youngest captain was Alister Debelotte who at the age of 23 captained the Grenada team in the Windward Islands 4 day tournament.
The only new comer to the squad is top order batsman and wicket keeper Samuel Charles. Shermon Lewis who had an outstanding performance in the 2017-18 CWI Professional 50 overs championship taking 30 wickets is not available because of West Indies duty. Emmanuel Stewart who captain the West Indies under 19 team in this years world cup is injured and was not considered for selection.
