St. George’s, September 29, 2011 – The MP for the Town of St. George is sponsoring the participation of Queen’s Park Rangers (QPR) in the third annual Waggy-T Knockout Football Tournament.
At the request of the club, Honourable Peter David has donated gear such as T-shirts, shorts and socks to QPR, which will be participating in the tournament that begins Saturday, October 1, at the National Stadium in St. George’s.
“I encourage you, the young people of River Road, to exercise teamwork and discipline and to give of your best in the competition,’’ said MP David, who reinforced his point by quoting a line from the school song of the Grenada Boys Secondary School. The line says, “The team wins the match at football, though one man must kick the goal.’’
The presentation to QPR by Mr. David took place Wednesday evening in River Road.
The parliamentary representative, who is also Tourism Minister and General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), promised that he’ll endeavour to support positive initiatives that will benefit people in every community that comprises the Town of St. George.
“This is something that I’ve been doing and will continue to do,’’ he said. “It’s the same passion I have for serving all nationals of Grenada as Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation and General Secretary of the NDC.’’
Eagles Super Strikers are the defending champions of the Waggy-T competition, which combines top-class musical entertainment with lucrative cash prizes for winners at each stage of the tournament.
Teams will be battling for $75,000 in prizes in the eight-week competition.
