St. George’s, Tuesday, March 1, 2011 – The Government of Grenada, in keeping with its modernization thrust, is planning to establish a mechanism to publicly recognize public officers for dedicated service to the nation.
An Inaugural Public Service Retirement Award Ceremony is scheduled for March 10, 6 p.m. – 9.30 p.m., at the Grenada Trade Centre, Morne Rouge, St. George’s.
It will be held under the auspices of Hon. Tillman Thomas, Prime Minister and Minister of Public Administration.
At the first awards’ event, tribute will be paid to approximately 125 retired public officers who retired in 2010.
They’ll be drawn from both the established and non-established categories of the public service. Government says the activity will become an annual affair in honor and tribute to the many workers who have served, and continue to serve, the country diligently.
Retired Chief Pharmacist, Benedict Newton, echoed the sentiments of some retirees, who have described the award ceremony as a “welcomed gesture and a kind token of appreciation that has been too long in coming.”
