ST.GEORGE’S, GRENADA, 2ND JANUARY, 2009_ Prime Minister Hon. Tillman Thomas has congratulated Grenadians who were honored by the Queen in her 2009 New Years Honours List.
“You have all contributed to the development of our country in your specific area of service. It is my hope that others will follow in your footsteps of selfless service to their communities and ultimately to building a better Grenada.” The Prime Minister said.
The Prime Minister paid special tribute to former Prime Minister George Brizan who he said has contributed significantly to Grenada in the areas of politics, agriculture and education.
“Mr. Brian has given selflessly to Grenada over the years. His contribution and devotion to agriculture is well known and documented. His relationship with farmers is still a talking point and his legacy in the class room is equally outstanding,” the Prime Minister said.
Mr Brizan, a historian, teacher and author, was appointed as Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) for his contribution to Politics and Education.
The Prime Minister also congratulated Hilary Anne Gabriel, Richard Hughes and Michael Pierre on their appointment as Members of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.
He noted that Ms Gabriel’s service to the disabled community is well known.
The Prime Minister also extended congratulations to Mr. Peter Blair and Mr. John Francis for their contribution to sports and culture and farming respectively..
