Prime Minister and Sports Minister commend Spiceboyz Victory

Tuesday 16th June, 2015: Prime Minister, Dr. the Rt. Hon. Keith Mitchell, has applauded the victory of Grenada’s National Football team in their stage encounter against Puerto Rico. The game at the Grenada National Stadium saw Grenada securing a two nil victory over the visitors.

Team Grenada went ahead in the 34th Minute with an own-goal by Puerto Rico, and in the 87th minute with a header from Jamal Charles.

Prime Minister Mitchell described the match as “thrilling” and the victory as “refreshing,” as the Spice Boyz showed true National pride and representation in front of their home crowd to secure the victory after their weekend loss in Puerto Rico.

Grenada advances to the next stage of the competition, playing their next match in September against opponents to be decided.

The Grenadian PM reiterated that the Grenada Football Association and the players can look forward to continued support from the people and Government of Grenada.

Meanwhile Minister of Youth Hon. Emmalin Pierre congratulated the team, saying that the support for the team, in particular considering the time of day the match was played, shows how much the locals are throwing their support behind the Grenada National Football team. The Minister called for even more support as the team advances to the next round.

Prime Minister Mitchell and Minister Pierre, along with their other cabinet colleagues, were at the stadium to witness the Spice Boyz victory on Tuesday afternoon.

The Government of Grenada applauds the SpiceBoyz on their victory and extends very best wishes to Team Grenada as it moves on to the next stage of competition on the Road to World Cup 2018 in Russia.
