PRESS STATEMENT ON INJURED GRENADIAN

NEW YORK, October 7, 2012 – The Consulate General of Grenada in New York wishes to inform the general public that only one Grenadian remains hospitalised following Saturday’s bus crash in Wayne, New Jersey.

A chartered bus, which left Toronto, Canada on Friday night, was carrying a number of Caribbean nationals including a group of Grenadians attending an Annual Adventist Church Convention in Brooklyn, NY.

State Police reported that the bus overturned on an exit ramp about 25 miles from New York City.

Ms Christa Bell-Francois, 51, of Mt Rich, St Patrick and who resides in Toronto is among those injured and undergoing treatment at a hospital in Paterson, NJ.

Consul General Derrick James spoke to the hospitalised Grenadian on Sunday.

“She is in high spirits and expressed appreciation for the many prayers and best wishes she and others received from the community since the accident,” said James.

The Consul General has also been in contact with Consul General Jenny Gumbs in Toronto and the President of the Grenada-New York Seventh Day Adventist Organisation, Crofton Calliste.
