St. George’s, May 4, 2012 – The People’s Republic of China has donated a second set of audio-video equipment to the Tillman Thomas administration, which continues on a path to enhance its public relations machinery and the Government Information Service (GIS).
The equipment, which was presented Thursday to Prime Minister Thomas by Chinese Ambassador to Grenada, Xu Jianguo, follows a first donation that was made several months ago.
The equipment is for use by the GIS, whose operations fall under the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
Thomas, in thanking the Chinese government for the equipment, emphasized the importance of having a “properly equipped’’ GIS.
“Information is the most important ingredient in competitive politics,’’ he said.
According to GIS Acting Director, Ray Roberts, the equipment puts the state-controlled information service agency at the “top of the line in TV production.’’
GIS crew of personnel has also been strengthened with more direct support from government PROs, as well as the PMO’s recent hiring of Guyana-born media professional, Maliza Walton-Sinclair.
