PM Thomas and Minister Simmons to participate in St. Patrick Youth Forum

St. George’s, Tuesday, March 22, 2011 – Grenadian youth will bring their concerns about education and other issues of national importance to Prime Minister  Tillman Thomas at an event scheduled for Wednesday, March 23, in St. Patrick.

Prime Minister Thomas, who is also MP for St. Patrick East, and Youth Empowerment and Sports Minister, Patrick Simmons, will participate in a National Youth Forum at the River Sallee Government School.

The forum, which begins 4 p.m., is organised by the Ministry of Youth Empowerment and Sports. The ministry describes it as an opportunity for youth to interact with ministers and government officials on areas of educational, economic and social development, and to have a voice in the governing process. 

As part of Wednesday’s exercise, two St. Patrick youth will be part of the group of panelists that will include Hon. Thomas and Minister Simmons.

The Prime Minister will share on the topic “Youth and their Role in the Governance Process.’’ Minister Simmons will speak on the new apprenticeship programme and its benefits to the youth of St. Patrick.

The Ministry of Youth Empowerment and Sports has issued an invitation to all youth of River Sallee and surrounding communities to attend the National Youth Forum and be involved in “sharing and gathering information that will assist in the development of the nation.’’
