Port of Spain, April 21, 2010 – The maritime agreement to be signed today between Grenada and Trinidad and Tobago is good not only for the two countries but for the entire Caribbean, says Grenada’s Prime Minister Hon. Tillman Thomas.

“The agreement will lay the foundation for further and better cooperation in the region,’’ Prime Minister Thomas said on his arrival in Trinidad this morning.

He said he is looking forward to the 11 a.m. signing with Prime Minister Patrick Manning of Trinidad and Tobago.

“I am definitely looking forward to it. This is a historic occasion,’’ Hon. Thomas said. “Grenada and Trinidad have always had good relations. The agreement is a good thing for us and for the rest of the region.’’

Prime Minister Thomas is heading a delegation that includes Foreign Minister Hon. Peter David and members of the Grenada Joint Boundary Commission that concluded the agreement with Trinidad in March.

They include chief commissioner Dr. Carlyle Mitchell, Senator Arley Gill, Gilbert Massell, Reynold Benjamin, Anslem Clouden, Alva Browne and John Auguste.

The signing ceremony will be witnessed by Grenadian Senators Chester Humphrey and Chris Deallie, who were among representatives from outside the government that were invited to join the delegation on the visit to Trinidad.
