St. George’s, September 14, 2011 (GIS) – A recently announced two-year economic programme, as well as details of promised Chinese assistance to Grenada, will form part of discussions to be held in St. Patrick Thursday, September 15, between residents of the parish and government ministers.
Prime Minister Hon. Tillman Thomas, who is MP for St. Patrick East, will lead the government team into St. Patrick, which is the first stop in a planned series of nationwide parish town hall meetings.
It follows last Thursday’s live national address from the Trade Centre in which the Prime Minister updated Grenadians on major projects to be undertaken, and also outlined a plan to “accelerate implementation’’ of the initiatives.
Grenada has also just signed a bi-lateral cooperation agreement with China. The signing took place in Trinidad at the Third China-Caribbean Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum.
At the meeting, which ended on Tuesday, China announced it will provide US$1 billion in loans to Caribbean countries, including Grenada, to finance infrastructural projects.
Thursday’s town hall meeting will be held at the St. Patrick’s Anglican School, starting 7 p.m.
Transportation has been arranged for St. Patrick residents wishing to attend the meeting. All buses, from both St. Patrick East and St. Patrick West, leave 6.30 p.m. for the Anglican School.
