PAHO’s Healthcare Disaster Coordinators visits Grenada

A team of Healthcare Disaster Coordinators from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) is schedule to arrive in Grenada this weekend to assist local health care providers and disaster coordinators in the implementation of the Safe Hospital Index, (SHI).

 

As of Monday March 17th, 2008, the disaster coordinators will conduct a four day exercise with senior and middle managers from the Ministry of Health administrative and Hospital division, at the Ministry of Works conference room.

 

The Safe Hospital Index a procedural approach which guides and ensures that all Health facilities meet PAHO’s established Disaster Mitigation Standards on Monday the officials from PAHO will meet with Health Minister Sen. the Hon Ann David-Antoine before making step by step presentations to the local health care providers and disaster coordinators.

 

On Tuesday and Wednesday, the visitors will carry out an exercise with officials at the General Hospital along with local Health Disaster Coordinator Mr. Osbert Charles where they will conduct an examination of the Hospital and guide the implementation of the (SHI).

 

A close door meeting will take place on Thursday where the representatives from PAHO and the local healthcare providers will review the process and their findings.
