Friday 8th April 2011: Member of Parliament for St. Andrew North East and Shadow Minister of Agriculture Honorable Roland Bhola, has called for an evaluation of the original mandate of the Grenada Marketing and National Importing Board (GMNIB) as a well as a restructuring of the organization.
The Opposition spokesman on agriculture further stated that the Marketing Board needs to be finding and assisting with sourcing markets for the produce of farmers. Bhola also said that a serious look must be taken at the mandate of the GMNIB at its creation during the era of the People’s Revolutionary Government and then view these in light of its present operations.
Honorable Bhola was at the time addressing farmers and fishermen in the Bain’s Hall in Grenville St Andrew during a stakeholder consultation. He stated that it is time that the problems existing at the Marketing Board are dealt with if we are to make a serious dent in the revival of the agriculture sector.
