On The Spot ditches Job Ready Radio Program

Wireless from AT&TGrenadians whose homes were destroyed in last Tuesday’s flash flood in St. John and St. Mark have been told that they could be relocated if they desire.

After almost two years of hosting the Getting Job Ready Radio Program, On The Spot Manager has sent an email to Host, Collin Francis former Political Leader of GULP, “that his services will no longer be needed”. This is a quite a blow for the many fans and young people that tune in weekly by the thousands across Grenada and around the world.

The letter was received on April 21st, after his debut talk show hosted on the grounds of Clear Harbor as part of Clear Harbor’s fourth year in Grenada where outstanding employees were awarded. As to what transpired to cause On The Spot to remove its sponsorship to one of the most popular talk show on radio is baffling but the letter did indicate that On The Spot is restructuring its radio programs. Fans are left in the cold as the young politician grabbles around to find new sponsors for radio shows. Collin Francis has said as host of the program he will do whatever he can to keep that sort of programming alive on radio and will even bring it to television as well.

Jamaican Reverend Courtney Richards has been filling in on Francis’s time on the On The Spot Hours on radio. Reverend Courtney is a Family Counselor from Jamaica and had to work with out going Host Collin Francis who was asked to do the Radio Program once a week prior to the letter from On The Spot Manager. In a previous email by Collin sent to Emmerson has indicated the need for communication between host and sponsor and a meeting was planned for the following week.

Emmerson Theodore has received many awards including Entrepreneur of the year and young business entrepreneur that helps young people. He has received awards both from Grenada Industrial and Development Corporation (GIDC) and the Ministry of Youth including the Prime Ministers Award for 2010. There is no indication as to whether or not that the removal of On The Spot Sponsorship was politically motivated.

Getting Job Ready Program was created by Collin Francis to help curb the frustration of young people who have left school and looking for a job while at the same time giving managers information as to how to manage their staff better. Collin Francis has been the main recruiter and trainer for On The Spot Hardware for years and On The Spot Hardware has seen tremendous improvements in staff relations and customer service over the years. On The Spot Manager has always said that Collin Francis is a main Pillar of On The Spot Hardware because of his contribution to staff and customer service Relations and loyalty to On The Spot. Collin has also been a consultant for a number of projects including building projects for On The Spot. The Getting Job Ready Program has made On The Spot a Household name within two years of its existence.

The Getting Job Ready Radio Program is part of Collin’s Message to the Nation for seven (7) years now, “that students need to be better prepared for the world of work”. Subsequently a Getting Job Ready Magazine was published by Collin and every year a massive Getting Job Ready Workshop that attracts hundreds of young people across Grenada is held. Through the Getting Job Ready Radio Program Collin has been able to secure jobs for young people, train them on the radio, help with their interviewing skills, help homeless young persons secure a home, sort help for depressed job seekers and empower many. Fans have started to write letters and emails showing their support.

Thousands of Grenadians look forward to this program weekly. Managers have changed their perspective on staff and customer service as well many young persons have found hope given the timeliness of the program’s content. Many adults wish that such programs were available to them when they were young. The program was aired twice weekly on Wee Fm and Once on GBN. “There are many other companies that are willing to sponsor the program and as such the program will continue in the near future”, the Host indicated.
