NYU COLLEGE OF DENTISTRY HENRY SCHEIN CARES GLOBAL STUDENT OUTREACH PROVIDE FREE ORAL HEALTH CARE IN GRENADA

On February 27-March 4, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the NYU College of Dentistry Henry Schein Cares Global Student Outreach Program will provide oral health care to children and adults at the Tivoli Medical Station at St. Andrew’s Parish School.  The event is open to the public for individuals without access to dental care.  Services will be provided at no cost to the patient.  The NYU College of Dentistry Henry Schein Cares Global Student Outreach Program event in Grenada is in collaboration with the Grenada Ministry of Health.

The NYU College of Dentistry Henry Schein Cares Global Student Outreach Program provides oral health care education, emergency dental services, screenings, prevention, sealant application, and restorative treatment to underserved communities throughout the United States and Latin America.  In addition, the NYU College of Dentistry Henry Schein Cares Global Student Outreach Program assesses the oral health needs of each targeted community and works to implement a sustainable oral health system, including the identification and training of local members of the community who can sustain oral health education and care on an ongoing basis.  In addition to the clinic in Grenada, the NYU College of Dentistry Henry Schein Cares Global Student Outreach Program will be visiting every public school in the tri-island nation to implement a school-based oral health program, including education and prevention, for every public school student in the country, as well as a prenatal program.  The February visit will launch the school-based tooth brushing routines in every classroom throughout the country.

Participating dental team volunteers from the NYU College of Dentistry Henry Schein Cares Global Student Outreach Program include NYU faculty, residents, and students of dentistry and dental hygiene, thereby enriching the professional experience of the students and faculty while providing a quality service experience for patients.  Geographic areas targeted by the global outreach program annually include Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; Machias, Maine; Grenada; Hudson, N.Y.; Bluefields, Nicaragua; and villages of the Yukon Flats in Alaska.

The NYU College of Dentistry Henry Schein Cares Global Student Outreach Program is the result of a partnership between NYU College of Dentistry, Henry Schein, the largest distributor of health care products and services to office-based dental, medical and veterinary practitioners, and local partners in each targeted community. Henry Schein Cares, the Company’s global corporate social responsibility program, provides all of the dental supplies used by the program’s missions for each of the programs taking place throughout the year.  Additional support for the Grenada school-based oral health program is provided by Colgate-Palmolive and GC America Inc.
