NEW YORK, September 12, 2012 – About 100 law enforcement officials from New York are expected to visit Grenada in the summer of 2013.
The officers, who are members of the Caribbean Law Enforcement Association (CLEA) of New York, have chosen Grenada to visit in August 2013.
A six-member delegation will visit Grenada next week to meet with members of a local organising committee headed by Superintendent Godfrey Fleming, and other members of the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) who deal with incidents of Domestic Violence.
The visiting delegation is also expected to visit hotels, meet with Commissioner of Police Willan Thompson and host a media briefing before departure.
CLEA is expected to discuss the introduction of a programme called “The Clothesline Project” to Grenada in November. This programme, which has been successfully launched in other Caribbean islands, is intended to curb instances of Domestic Violence.
The organisation is also interested in conducting a football coaching clinic with possible scholarship opportunities.
The Caribbean Law Enforcement Association is a not-for-profit organisation, whose members consist of Law Enforcement personnel ranging from Police Officers, Law Enforcement Support staff, and other Professionals.
One of the goals of the organisation is to support and foster the growth and development of the Caribbean and Caribbean–American communities towards their full potential.
