NO LONGER A DISTANT MEMORY- ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION RE-INTRODUCED IN CARRICOU

The Livestock Division of the Ministry of Agriculture introduces the Artificial Insemination Project in Carriacou and Petit Martinique.

The programme will be officially launched on Wednesday in Carriacou and will be attended by Dr. Bowen Louison, Chief Veterinary and Livestock Officer, Dr. Mwasha, Livestock Consultant in the Ministry of Agriculture and other members of the Division.

While in Carriacou, they will meet with livestock officers, farmers and other stakeholders of the sector.

Senator the Hon. George Prime, Minister for Carriacou and Petit Martinique Affairs is expected to deliver the key address to launch the programme.

Dr. Bowen Louison, will use the opportunity while in Carriacou and Petit Martinique to conduct a workshop on the H1N1 influenza virus, particularly as it relates to agriculture and livestock.

  Dr. Mwasha will discuss the strategy plans for the creation of a center of excellence for rearing small ruminants.  In addition, he will visit possible sites for the construction of farmer field schools for the training farmers and rearing small ruminants at the village level.
