NDC remains focused, says PRO

St. George’s, April 2, 2012 – An executive member of the National Democratic Congress has said that the NDC remains focused on building and strengthening the party’s organs, and in preparing for the next general election.

Public Relations Officer, Sen. Arley Gill, made the comment in response to reporters’ questions about Kenrick Fullerton, Chairman of the NDC.

Fullerton, accompanied by his lawyers, appeared at the Grenville Magistrate Court Monday morning on charges of forgery.

“Kenny has indicated that he is stepping aside as Chairman as he concentrates on defending himself against the charges,’’ Sen. Gill said. “As a lawyer, I fully appreciate the importance of not commenting on a matter that is before the court to avoid prejudicing the matter. All I would say is that the thoughts and prayers of Party members are with Kenny and his family at this time.’’

The PRO said that in the interim, Stanford Simon will continue in the role of Acting NDC Chairman.

“Brother Stanford has been ably handling the position for the past few weeks as we meet to discuss the strengthening of the Party for the national polls that are due next year,’’ Sen. Gill said. “I expect he’ll be in the chair until elections are held at the NDC’s next convention in July.’’
