NDC mourns party stalwart and educator

St. George’s, August 11, 2011 – The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is saddened by the passing of a long-time member of the party, Carl Williams.

“Carl migrated to the United States where he served diligently and tirelessly as a member of the New York Chapter of the NDC,’’ said the party’s Public Relations Officer, Senator Arley Gill.

He said a “deep sense of sadness’’ is felt by NDC Leader and Prime Minister of Grenada, Hon. Tillman Thomas, and the executive and membership of the party on the death of “another of our stalwarts and a champion of workers’ and people’s rights.’’

A service in “celebration of the life’’ of Mr. Williams, a former student of the St. George’s Anglican School and the Grenada Boys Secondary School (GBSS), will be held in Brooklyn on Friday, August 12. His funeral is Saturday.

Mr. Williams also taught mathematics at the GBSS. His students included Sen. Gill.

“He was an excellent tutor and student guide,’’ recalled Sen. Gill.
