St. George’s, December 31, 2009 – The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed “deep sadness’’ on the passing of Mrs. Margaret Payne.
“Margaret’s death, first and foremost, is a profound lost to her family,’’ said MP Peter David, General Secretary of the NDC. “It is also a lost to our nation and to the NDC as well.’’
Mr. David noted that Mrs. Payne had served her community and country in several capacities, including as a church organiser and a member of the Grenada Olympic Committee.
“She also believed in the values and mission of the National Democratic Congress,’’ Mr. David said. “She supported the Party and gave freely of her service as an Attaché to Prime Minister Honourable Tillman Thomas, the Leader of the NDC.’’
The NDC General Secretary expressed “heartfelt condolences’’ to the Payne family on behalf of the “entire NDC family.’’
“Margaret will be sorely missed,’’ he added. “It is a moment of deep sadness.’’
