MP Roberts to share future vision at Woburn town hall

St. George’s, September 18, 2012 – MP Glynis Roberts, who has signaled that she intends to seek reelection as the parliamentary representative for St. George South, will meet with her constituents this week.

She is having a town hall meeting on Thursday, September 20, 7 pm, at the Woburn R.C. Infant School.

“The primary audience for the meeting, of course, is the people of South St. George that have twice elected me as their MP,’’ said Roberts. “But no one is excluded from the meeting. In fact, I’m inviting all Grenadians – no matter where they reside in the country – to attend the meeting if they possibly can.’’

Roberts, Minister of Environment and Foreign Trade, is a former treasurer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

She was first elected MP in 2003 and served in parliament as one of seven NDC opposition parliamentarians.

When elections were held in 2008, she recaptured the seat and was appointed Minister of Social Services, Ecclesiastical Affairs and Labour in the cabinet of the victorious NDC government. She has also served as Tourism Minister.

“I am deeply grateful for the confidence the people of the constituency have placed in me,’’ MP Roberts said. “On Thursday, I’ll update them on my stewardship, share with them my vision for going forward, and listen to views, ideas and suggestions.’’

Roberts is one of only two women sitting in the House of Representatives.

The other is Dr. Clarice Modeste-Curwen, the opposition New National Party’s MP for St. Mark.
