More Incidents in Grenada

St. George, May 5, 2008 — The Criminal Investigation Department of the Royal Grenada Police Force is continuing investigations into a number of incidents that occurred over the past weekend.

Fish Market Killing update

Brandon Casimir, 26 year old of Boca in St. George’s is expected to be charged later today for the death of Akim Cox of Darbeau St. George.

Cox, aged 21 was stabbed on Friday night, May 2nd ’08, at around 11.00pm, in the vicinity of the fish market on Melville Street in St. George.

Cox was taken to the hospital where he later died.

A post mortem was conducted earlier today, and it was determined that the cause of death was a single stab wound to the chest which punctured the heart.

Casimir is expected to make his first court appearance before the St. George’s Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday 6th May 2008.

Grand Anse chopping

Kimani Mitchell aged 27 of Grand Anse in St. George was hospitalized during the early hours of Saturday morning as a result of chop wounds he received to the body.

The incident occurred in the area commonly referred to as Wall Street at Grand Anse.

Mitchell later left the hospital against the advice of the medical personnel attending to him, and is presently not cooperating with police investigators.

Hetold police that it is not his intention to have any charges laid against anyone, but the members of the South St. George C.I.D are continuing their investigation.

St. Andrew’s chopping.

Members of the Eastern Division of the RGPF are continuing their investigations into a chopping incident early Sunday morning in which Emron Peter of Tivoli in St. Andrews received a chop wound to the hard that severed his wrist.

The incident occurred at a public event in the Tivoli area.

Peter, aged 25 was rushed to the Princess Alice Hospital and later transferred to the General Hospital in St. George’s where he remains in a stable condition.

St. Andrew’s Police are seeking the whereabouts of Zowarde Pancho, as a person of interest, to assist with their investigation.

In a related matter Kerry Emery of Tivoli was arrested and charged with two counts of summary wounding and being in possession of an offensive weapon.

Beausejour Chopping

One person has been hospitalized, and another is in Police custody after a chopping incident in Beausejour in St. George.

The incident occurred on Sunday night in the vicinity of the Village Entertainment Complex.

Both persons received chop wounds to the body.

Allan Ross of Brizan in St. George remains in hospital, and Kim Phillip has been detained by Police and is assisting with the investigation.

No charges have been laid, and the investigation continues..
