St. George’s, Grenada, 24 November, 2008_ Grenada is being represented at the Annual Conference of Nutrition Coordinators in St. Kitts and Nevis from November 25 to 27th, 2008. Nutrition Co-ordinator, Mrs. Betty Finlay and Programme Manager of the National Food Security Programme, Mrs. Ingrid Rush are attending the Annual Conference.
The Theme for this year is “Food Price Inflation and Food Security in the Caribbean.”
The main objectives of Conference are:
- To analyze the implications of the current food price inflation on food security in the Caribbean
- To analyze the challenges of achieving food security in the Region;
- To assess and evaluate the measures adopted by regional agencies to combat soaring food process and reduce vulnerability to food security;
- To articulate policies and practical approaches to positively influence food security;
- To agree on a strategy for partnerships towards preparing country and community level plans of action to assist populations must vulnerable to food security in the OECS;
- To plan technical cooperation activities for 2009; and
- To celebrate winners of the regional nutrition competition.
Grenada’s participation at the annual Conference of Nutrition
Co-ordinators will provide an opportunity for discussion and collaboration across sectors at the country level and to develop strategies to improve regional food security.
