Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Culture the Honorable Patrick Simmons has praised the performance of Grenada’s Football Team, The Spice Boys at the Digicel Caribbean Championships.
Grenada in their latest outing on Sunday 7th December was able to defeat Barbados by a two goal margin of four (4) goals to two (2) which guaranteed the Spice Boys a place in the Semi Final round of the competition.
Grenada’s accomplishments at the tournament which included a two (2) to one (1) victory over what is considered one of the regions strongest teams the Soca Warriors of Trinidad and Tobago, has elevated them to qualification to the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2009. Minister Simmons in his praises of Team Grenada’s magnificent performance stated: “I wish to congratulate the Grenada Football team on reaching the semis in this very important tournament. I wish the team greater success in the matches ahead. Our next stage is the CONCACAF Gold Cup and I am confident that the boys would give a good account of themselves.”
The Spice Boys will next be in action against Team Cuba on Sunday 14th December. The Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Culture and the staff of the Ministry take this opportunity to wish Team Grenada all the best in their upcoming encounters.
