The National Democratic Congress has won what is considered to be a key political endorsement in Carriacou.
Businessman and politician Lyle Bullen on Saturday declared his support for Senator George Prime, the party’s candidate in Carriacou for upcoming elections, likely to take place this year.
Bullen made his first appearance on an NDC platform at the party’s rally in Carriacou Saturday where the plans for the constituency were outlined by Prime in a document dubbed “Vision for Carriacou”.
“This is my first time on a NDC platform, but it will not be the last…the time has come for us to kick out this government out of office, there have been there too long”, he remarked.
Bullen, a former candidate for the now defunct Maurice Bishop Patriotic Movement is said to be one of a number of key political figures in Carriacou who have now joined the NDC movement since the last general election.
Hundreds of party supporters travelled to the sister isle Saturday for “Prime Time,” a massive rally that was held at the Harvey Vale playing field in Hillsborough.
The mainlanders, in a sea of yellow, joined their island counterparts – swelling the gathering to thousands to hear the plans that an NDC government would put in motion in Carriacou.
Opposition Leader Tillman Thomas and his team spoke at length on their plans for remaking Carriacou’s economy.
Vision for Carriacou outlined plans for the development of tourism, industry and trade as well as social development.
Another important endorsement came from Carriacou native and political activist Anslem Clouden.
“This is the last opportunity to get the right representation for the people of Carriacou and Petit Martinique, there is no other person to represent us during this crucial period than George Prime,” Clouden stated.
Reacting to the high profile endorsements Prime said, “I am delighted with the support I received here in Carriacou, the event was a major success and this is an indication of the widespread support the NDC enjoys in Carriacou and Petit Martinique”.
