NEW YORK, September 18, 2012 – Telecommunications Company, LIME, is partnering with the Grenada Boys’ Secondary School’s Alumni Association in New York at its annual Scholarship Awards and Dinner Dance in December.
The company on Tuesday agreed, for the second consecutive year, to provide support for the staging of the event.
The guest list includes World and Olympic Champion Kirani James, Olympian and 2012 NCAA Decathlon Champion Kurt Felix and former Principal of the GBSS, Victor Ashby.
LIME, the region’s largest mobile provider, earlier this year announced that James has signed a three-year deal to represent the company in the Caribbean.
The agreement includes Kirani’s support for some of LIME’s ventures in the region and making personal appearances on behalf of the company.
James (Class of 2009), who added the London Olympic 400m title to his world championship, will join some familiar faces at the December event.
Felix, who graduated from the GBSS in 2005, was earlier this year crowned champion of the NCAA Decathlon with a new national record of 8,062 points. He won the 10-event competition by a comfortable 106-point margin, becoming the first athlete from Boise State University to win an NCAA title or become an All-American in the decathlon.
Mr Ashby has provided 27 years of leadership and mentoring at the GBSS between 1980 and 2007.
The GBSS Scholarship Awards and Dinner Dance will be held at Antun’s in New York on Saturday December 8, 2012.
Tickets for the event are expected to go on sale in October.
