LIAT has confirmed that one of its flights with 49 people on board had been forced to return to the Maurice Bishop International Airport in Grenada after warning lights were illuminated in the cockpit.
It said flight LI 727 was preparing to leave Grenada when the warning signal was observed and that “as a precautionary measure emergency services were deployed.
“However the return to the ramp was uneventful with no injury to passengers or crew,” LIAT said, adding that arrangements are being made for the affected passengers to be accommodated on other LIAT services.
“The aircraft is being examined by the Company’s maintenance staff and will undergo the various checks as stipulated by the manufacturer’s maintenance manual before being returned to service,” it added.
The cash-strapped airline operates more than 100 schedule flights throughout the Caribbean on a daily basis and is in the process of upgrading its fleet.
