Kyle Hope hits sparkling ton, Andre Fletcher hit 58 to set-up easy win

Bridgetown, Barbados – Kyle Hope showed his class with a match-winning century as the Sagicor High Performance Centre continued their match programme on Friday. The tall right-hander made 110 not out off just 90 balls as Sagicor HPC Team 1 easily beat Sagicor HPC Team 2 at the 3Ws Oval.

The captain was there at the end when his side reached 236-4 to win the 50-overs match by six wickets with 14.3 overs to spare. He came to the crease with the score at 31-2in the eighth over and led the team home. He played some fluent strokes on both sides of the pitch and brought up his half-century off 45 balls with four boundaries and two sixes.

Hope then went into overdrive and the second 50 required just 33 balls as he spanked another eight fours. He added 160 off 121 balls with the aggressive Keddy Lesporis, who made 59 off 51 balls with six fours and two sixes. He was severe on anything short and hit six fours and two sixes over deep square leg.

Hope and Lesporis made batting look easy on a placid pitch after they were set a challenging target of 236 by Sagicor HPC Team2. That total was built around a stroke-filled 65 off 64 balls by skipper Carlos Brathwaite, who smashed three sixes at the death.

Earlier, Andre Fletcher continued his fine run with 58 off 71 balls including four boundaries. He shared a second wicket stand of 80 with Kyle Corbin, who made a stylish 57 – also off 71 balls – with four fours and a six over cover.

The bowling was led by left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican, who showed great control to take 3-40 off 10 overs. Johnson Charles was a surprise package with his medium-pace and took 3-58 off nine overs.

The Sagicor HPC will play a T20 match on Sunday at 3Ws Oval, their final match for the year. First ball is 6 pm (5 pm Jamaica Time).
