St. George’s, September 12, 2011 – Grenada’s leading quarter mile runners, Kirani James and Rondell Bartholomew, took two of the top three places at an international track meet in Berlin, Germany, on Sunday.
James, running 45.33 second, won the 400 meter race, and Bartholomew – with a time of 45.82 – was third at the International Stadium Festival (ISTAF), one of the world’s oldest track and field meets.
Nery Brenes of Costa Rica was second at 45.62 seconds.
With Sunday’s victory, James has now won all four races in his professional track career. They are the August 5 Aviva London Grand Prix; the World Championship on August 30 in South Korea; the September 8 Diamond League in Zurich; and Sunday’s 400 in Berlin.
After the ISTAF race on Sunday, 19-year-old James said: “I’m done for the season. I have to go back to school.”
