Fourteen young men have now joined the ranks of Her Majesty’s Prisons to help improve the security and operations at the facility.
The fourteen newly recruited prison officers were welcomed on Tuesday, during an orientation ceremony, at which the senior management team at the prison and officials from the Ministry of National Security, provided an overview of their responsibilities and the operations of the prison service.
National Security Adviser, Alec Telesford told the recruits that they are required to uphold the standards expected of a prison officer.
Prime Minister Tillman Thomas, who also holds the portfolio of Minister of National Security, said his government’s decision to meet the staffing needs of the prison is timely.
The Prime Minister said government’s security initiatives provide a platform to support Grenada’s reputation as a safe destination that is attractive to investors and tourists.
