St. George’s, July 20, 2012 – The Spicemas Corporation and its chief sponsor, LIME, are saving the best for last. The final roadshow in their Carnival City series of concerts will be held Sunday, July 22, in St. Patrick – regarded by many as Grenada’s “Historical Parish.’’
In culture, St. Patrick – venue of the annual Camerhogne Folk Festival – is also an undisputed leader. It’s in the forefront in traditional culture such as Shango, Jab Jab, Saracca and Shortknee, and in contemporary calypso and soca competitions.
Carnival City, which is based at Garfield’s Summer Lime on Kirani James Boulevard, has been taken to all of Grenada’s parishes, culminating Sunday at Fond Recreation Ground. The show is 1 pm – 8 pm and the price of admission is $5.
It will feature a Shortknee Festival involving 10 Shortknee squads, as well as Vieux Cour, Moko Jumbies, and Fancy Masqueraders.
When Carnival City returns to Garfield’s Summer Lime on Thursday, July 26, it will be for the semifinal of the Groovy Soca Monarch competition.
There are 20 semifinalists.
