April 13th 2015: “It’s not Soca! Not Calypso! It’s not reggae! It’s not Hip pop! It’s a fusion, it’s a blend that will be appreciated and be enjoyed everyone” was the way Lil Vaughn described his latest release which also features Jamaican entertainer QQ.
Last week Lil Vaughn launch is website and release the sound track ‘Overdose” and on Tuesday he released the video for the song. Shot on location in Jamaica, the video is a production of Millbeatz featuring Vaughn and QQ having an “Overdose” of entertainment.
“Successful entertainers never work alone, it’s all about developing that brand, what the person bring for the people to enjoy and those is what “Overdose” is about, me starting the process for developing my brand,” he said.
Besides having brand, Vaughn said he fully understand the need to be surrounded by a team of persons who will guide and direct him. “I am therefore, extremely pleased to announce my partnership with Spice Concoction, an Entertainment & Event Management Company registered in Grenada with the main objective of providing high level leadership and management services,” Vaughn said.
‘I am young but is at the stage in my life where I have decided to earn my livelihood in the entertainment industry and musical releases from me will not be seasonal but throughout the year so that people can enjoy my music. If it turns out that one of the songs become a carnival favourite, then we take it to the competition but periodic releases featuring a fusion of different genre is what the people can expect,” he said.
Lil Vaughn whose name is Jevaughn John who is only 18, discovered his love for entertainment and music at the tender age of 11 when he found himself firstly participating in the Church Choir of which his parents attended and later went on to participating in his village’s talent shows.
Realizing his talents and gifts, Lil Vaughn became a national sensation in 2013 when at the age of 16 he entered the Grenada Spice Mas National Soca Monarch Competition for the first time and placed 3rd, becoming the youngest artiste ever to have placed in the first three positions in a Soca Monarch Competition in the Caribbean with his first solo single entitled “Charge Up”.
John who is a graduate of T A Marryshow Community College is a also a songwriter and has written various songs not just for the local entertainers but regional entertainers.
