St. George’s, Grenada, October 18th: Former Chairman of the Prime Ministerial Sub Committee on Cricket, Honorable Doctor Keith Mitchell, has extended his congratulations to Darren Sammy, the newly elected captain of the West Indies Cricket Team.

Dr. Mitchell, a former national cricketer and sports enthusiast, indicated that he is excited with the decision by the West Indies Cricket Board to elect the young and vibrant Darren Sammy to the position of Captain of the West Indies Cricket Team and he strongly believes that this decision is a positive one for West Indies cricket.

Doctor Mitchell said that he sees in Sammy a stubborn determination to succeed and a strong passion for the game of cricket which was largely responsible for the West Indian dominance of cricket in past decades. He believes that Sammy will lead the regional cricket squad with pride and distinction since he has interacted with the players and knows that Sammy has the capabilities to more than adequately perform the task at hand.

He wished him and the team all the best in their upcoming tour of Sri Lanka next month as well as in all their future engagements.
