St. George’s, November 26, 2009 – Top officials of Grenada and China will gather in St. Andrew on Friday, November 27, for an important event related to the construction of a number of new houses.
The houses are to be built under an agreement between the People’s Republic of China and the Government of Grenada.
Friday’s event will include a sod-turning ceremony, as well as the signing of the housing agreement, at the Soubise site where many of the houses will be built.
The event, which starts at 10 A.M., will be attended by representatives of the Chinese Embassy and members of an advanced Chinese Technical Team, who arrived in the country earlier this week.
Among government officials to attend the event are MP for St. Andrew North-West Hon. Alleyne Walker, Minister of housing, Lands and Community Development; and parliamentary representative for St. Andrew South-West, Hon. Sylvester Quarless, Minister of Social Development.
The Ministry of Housing has extended a special invitation to residents of the Moon Shadow, Dunfermline and Soubise communities to attend Friday’s sod-turning and housing agreement signing.
